Kankakee school district #111 has its new school leader in place. The school board was in special session Monday to announce a veteran educator from Illinois has been hired.
The Kankakee School Board unanimously approved the hire of Teresa A. Lance. The Daily-Journal reports Lance brings 27-plus years experience in education to the job. Lance is currently the assistant superintendent of equity and innovation at Elgin Public School District. A four-year contract is yet to finalized. She will take the reins from outgoing superintendent Genevra Walters on July 1.
Lance was one of 37 applicants from several states. Walters announced her retirement earlier, effective June 30th.
