Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative, a member-owned co-op serving electricity to the rural areas of East Central Illinois, recently energized its 27th substation.
The substation, located on U.S. 45 north of Loda, will help provide power to many homes and businesses in the area, including Midwest Poultry near Loda — which has one of the largest electric loads for the 13,500-meter cooperative.
“This new substation will help increase reliability and reduce outage times for our member/owners,” said EIEC’s president and chief executive officer, Bob Hunzinger.
“This substation will provide additional supply and backup for our members served from our existing Buckley, Cissna Park and, ultimately, our Paxton substations.”
