The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs will soon be looking for contractors to take up the $230 million bond-funded project to build a new facility for the Quincy Veterans Home. IDVA Acting Director Linda Chapa LaVia expects to start looking for contractors beginning in November. Completion of the home isn’t expected until 2023. The project will use a design-build approach rather than a design, then bid and then build method.
Manteno Vets Home gets all-clear ---
After a report of Legionaires disease on August 30, the Veterans Administration and Illinois Public Health officials tets show the Veteran Home at Manteno has been given a clean bill of health. The agencies both report all parties were prooperly notified of the one case. Now, the water samples are complete and the Manteno facility is cleared of any legionella outbreak.
