Newton County: arrest made in murder of Nicole Bowen

Sherriff's Police in Newton County, IN are reporting the arrest of 21-year-old Garrett K. Kirts of Lebanon for the murder of Nicole Bowen.

As reported earlier here on 94.1 / 96.9 WIBK, Bowenn's body was found north of Kentland in Jefferson Township Saturday, March 30th.

Kirts has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bond in the Newton County Jail. He was also arrested on a Jasper County charge of resisting law enforcement.

Police identify several others also arrested in connection to the crime.

34-year-old Jasmine Parker of Kentland and 26-year-old Ashley Garth of Delphi are charged with assisting a criminal, which is a level five felony.

A warrant has been issued for 27-year-old Christopher Channing Mathis, a Kentland resident who's charged for assisting a criminal.
