A nitric acid leak in Gilman (Wednesday) brought emergency responders to the Pilot Travel Center, along Route 24. Clean-up crews were on the job. No Injury was reported.
Iroquois County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) reported the acid leak came from a semi-tractor at the Travel Center. Gilman Fire responded to secure safety measures were in place. The County EMA, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Travel Center officials and a private clean-up crew were all present.

Iroquois County EMA also reported the private clean-up crew experienced an equipment failure, leading to more acid spillage. Clean-up detail was being completed Thursday.
