Nitric acid spill triggers I-65 detour

JASPER COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana State Police are asking drivers to avoid Interstate 65 in Jasper County because of a crash involving nitric acid.

As of 11:30 p.m. Monday, troopers were asking drivers to avoid the north and southbound lanes of I-65 about three miles south of the Roselawn exit.

Troopers said a semi tanker with nitric acid rolled over and was leaking. The leak required a detour of traffic. Troopers are not sure how long that detour will be in effect.
