Norm Grimsley, former Aroma Park Mayor, dies at 82

A larger-than-life kind of guy, loved and respected by all who knew him.  Norman Grimsley, long-time Mayor of Aroma Park, died suddenly on July 4th.   He was 82.  

Norm was elected Mayor of Aroma Park in 1978 and served in that role  for more than 30 years.  It was his mission to include the tiny village of Aroma Park in all Kankakee County political life. Norm was part of a team that brought 9-1-1 emergency service to Kankakee County and served the 9-1-1 Board and KARMA Board for years.  Norm also served on a committee to bring the Metro Bus system to Kankakee County and advocated to make sure Aroma Park was included on the bus route. Hen then was instrumental in makinbg sure the bus route made its way north of Midway Airport. 

Norm Grimsley implemented several improvementsin the Village of Aroma Park.  The Illinois General Assembly (House of Representatives) passed a Resolution congratulating him on his retirement from public office. Many believe there couldn't have been a more fitting day (July 4)  for this one amazing man to pass from this life to the bext.

A Celebration of Life is set for Tuesday, July 9 from 4 - 7 pm at the Jensen Funeral Home, Kankakee.
