THE STATEWIDE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN APRIL WAS ABOUT 45 DEGREES. THAT’S NEARLY EIGHT DEGREES BELOW NORMAL AND ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS SAYS STATE CLIMATOLOGIST JIM ANGEL.
"The only April colder was 43.1 degrees in 1907," Angel said. "You really have to go way back to find anything like this year. And it was the same all across the Midwest."
STATEWIDE AVERAGE PRECIPITATION FOR APRIL WAS ABOUT TWO AND A HALF INCHES...MORE THAN AN INCH BELOW NORMAL. THAT INCLUDED SOME SNOW IN MANY PARTS OF THE STATE.
