Vermilion County was hit with three tornadoes (Tuesday), while four others were also confirmed by the National Weather Service in centrals parts of Illinois. Bismarck had one of the twisters touch down at 5:39 pm. The tornado was clocked at 75 mph and hit while an 8th-grade graduation was taking place. Vermilion County Emergency Management Agency reported the people at the Bismarck-Henning Junior High commencement took cover in a lower level building while the twister tracked for 1.8 miles. No one was injured.
The Westville area also had wind damage, some treesand power poles came down. EF-1 tornadoes were reported on the ground near Potomac and Armstrong, according to the NWS.
The tornado south of Armstrong was an EF-1, with estimated peak winds at 90 mph. It tracked for over 5 miles first hitting the ground at 5:06 pm. At least two power poles were snapped and trees were damaged. And at Collison, a tornado tracked for 7 miles with winds registered at 70 mph.
