The National Weather Service continues to predict a new winter storm for Central Illinois with snowfall totaling 5 to 7 inches before all is said and done Tuesday.

The region remains under a winter storm warning from noon Tuesday to noon Wednesday and the city of Bloomington on Monday issued a snow route parking ban, taking effect at 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Snow will begin falling Tuesday afternoon with accumulation of 2 to 4 inches. The high temperature will be about 20 degrees. with a wind chill reading of zero to 10 below zero this morning.

More snow is predicted Tuesday night — 2 to 3 inches — accompanied by wind gusts of up to 25 mph in some areas, said the NWS, adding that will make for treacherous driving conditions.

Wednesday does not call for additional snow but it will remain very cold with a low Wednesday night of 8 below zero. The sun should return on Thursday with a high of around 8 degrees.

There also is a 40 percent chance for more snow on Friday night and Saturday night, according to the weather service.
