A Paxton man involved in a 14-hour standoff with police last October was sentenced to three-years probation in Ford Circuit Court. Timothy Donley was also ordered to pay $25,885 restitution for a police robot he destroyed after police had sent it into his home.

It was last fall, on October 9, when Donley refused to leave his home. After some 15 hours in a standoff, an Illinois State Police SWAT team entered the home and found Donley with two self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
Donley was treated at an Urbana hospital.

The 51-year-old Donley pleaded guilty to criminal damage to state-supported property. That's a Class 2 felony. In exchange for Donley's plea, the State agreed to dismiss charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Donley was ordered to serve 24 days in the county jail and undergo psychiatric counseling.

Donley was ordered to pay $25,885 in restitution for the Avatar robot he destroyed during the standoff. Police said Donley shot the robot three times with his shotgun.

Donley is also ordered to stay away from his wife, Kathy, as required by an order of protection granted by Judge Matt Fitton.
