A resurfacing project on Route 9 and Route 45 in Paxton is underway today (Mon 6/9).

Iroquois Paving Corp. of Watseka was the lowest bidder on the project. The price tag is $1.22 million. About 2.5 miles of the route is getting attention.

The project is being funded by Gov. Pat Quinn's Illinois Jobs Now! program and is being managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Illinois 9 will remain open to travel, but accessibility may be limited.
