PBL Superintendent Cliff McClure says the school board is ready to move forward on planning for an addition to the Clara Peterson Elementary School building. Construction of a two-story, 63,400-square-foot addition to the building comes after a successful referendum November 8.
Voters approved a $34.45 million building bond referendum. Four counties make up the district, including Ford, Iroquois, Vermilion and Champaign. The positive vote was certified (Tuesday) with 70% of voters OKing the referendum.
There were 2,024 Yes votes to. 1,954 No votes.
Also included in the $31 million project are the renovation of Clara Peterson and the completion of mandated health/life safety (HLS) improvements at PBL High School.
A start-up date on construction hasn’t been determined. Consultants for the project will include teachers and administrators.
