A Crescent City man was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on I-57. It happened near the Kankakee – Will County line Sunday evening.
Illinois State police report 50-yr-old Earl Rice Jr. was walking away from his disabled vehicle near Peotone was when he was hit by a vehicle. State Police had responded to a report about a disabled vehicle on the interstate about 7:15 pm.

When troopers arrived on the scene, they found Earl Rice Jr. had been struck by a vehicle in the left lane of oncoming traffic. He died of his injuries. The interstate was shut down for about two-and-a-half hours for investigation. There was no report on what vehicle struck the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
