Illinois State Police are identifying a Manhattan (IL) man as the pedestrian struck and killed last Friday (December 3) on Interstate 57 near Peotone. 64-year-old James R. Murdie had jumped from the Joliet Road overpass onto I-57 where he was struck by a southbound vehicle. Murdie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Why he jumped onto the interstate is the question ?  ISP said the incident is under investigation.
