Pintelon attempted murder trial gets underway in Watseka

The attempted murder trial of former Watseka resident Jerry Pintelon was scheduled to olpen today (Tuesday) in Iroquois Circuit Court. Pintelon, who lists his address as Stockland, faces attempted murder and weapons offenses for the August 2016 shooting of a woman on Ash Street in Watseka.

Prosecutors say Pintelon shot Kylie Schwartz three times when he became annoyed with a noisy party next door. Schwartz underwent surgery at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Today, a bullet fragment remains lodged in her back, according to prosecutors.

Charges against the 28-year-old Pintelon also include aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm. The Class X felony charges could bring 6-30 years in prison, if convicted.

Judge James Kinzer will hear the case.
