Police chase leads to Hoopeston man’s arrest

A Hoopeston man was freed on bond after leading Vermilion County authorities on a chase into Iroquois County on Wednesday.

40-year-old Michael Bailie is charged with DUI and aggravated use of a weapon.

Hoopeston and Rossville police and the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department were involved in the chase which then entered Iroquois County where Bailie's vehicle ran off the road into a field in his attempt to elude a sheriff's squad car.

An Iroquois County sheriff's deputy joined the pursuit south of Wellington. Bailie's vehicle ran off the road at Iroquois County Road 100 North near Wellington.

Bailie was taken by ambulance to Carle Hoopeston Area Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
