Police searching for attempted bank robber suspect

Surveillance tape has been circulated as police continue to search for the man who attempted to rob Municipal Bank in Momence late Friday morning.

No one was injured and no money was stolen during the 11:30 am incident, according to Momence Police Chief Tim Swanson.

The suspect fled northbound on foot after he displayed what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun with a silver barrel and white handle.

The Kankakee County Sheriff's Department website describes the man as approximately 6 feet tall, between 170-180 pounds and in his late 30s or early 40s. He also has disfigured teeth.

At the time of the attempted robbery, he was wearing sunglasses, a lime green shirt with blue jeans and a safari-type hat. He had scotch tape on his fingers and slight facial hair.
