Pontiac man charged with killing mother, brother

Livingston County State's attorney Seth Uphoff has released additional information concerning a shooting last month at a Pontiac motel.

A 27-year-old Pontiac man was charged Tuesday with killing his mother and brother Aug. 20 at the motel. It was a shooting incident that also left another person critically injured.

Cody Hetherington was charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 57-year-old Jean Corrice and 22-year-old Tyler Friant.

Uphoff said in a prepared statement, "The charges stem from Hetherington's actions on August 20, 2013, and the discovery of the victims at the Palamar Hotel in Pontiac.

Hetherington would face a mandatory sentence of life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder.
