Ice jams on Illinois rivers have emergency officials on standby. The potential of serious flooding could develop should the 50-degree temps from Monday and Tuesday cause thawing and ice jams breaking loose.
Flood Warnings are in place. There have been reports of flooded roads along the Kankakee River; some barricades are in place. Motorists are advised to not to ignore posted roads, where flooding could happen quickly.
The NWS has posted alerts where some areas could experience 2 -3 inches of rain. Snow is likely Thursday, accumulations between 1-3 inches. Dropping temps Tuesday and last night could create re-freezing and extremely slick road conditions.
