Thunderstorms are expected across the area today and tonight, with severe storms and heavy rainfall amounts possible. The immediate are could see three-quarters of an inch.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning, strong damaging winds, small hail, and heavy rainfall could produce localized flooding.

Area residents will need to take precautions due to the extreme heat on Friday through Sunday. On Sunday there is a 50-percent chance of more showers and thunderstorms.
