Propane truck rollover in Watseka

Emergency response teams in Watseka were on the scene of a propane truck rollover accident Monday.  One person was transported to a hospital.  No hazardous material spill was involved.  Good result considering a very hot, humid day.

In a press release, Watseka Fire reported one person was sent to the hospital following the rollover incident. It happened about 10:30 Monday morning on South Belmont Avenue north of Legion Park. Watseka Fire Assistant-Chief Nick Peters reported officials found a Hicksgas propane truck rolled over on its side in the road’s east ditch.

Officials said the truck driver was already out of the damaged truck and had secured all valves by the time first responders arrived. Riverside EMS took the driver to the hospital while firefighters kept an eye out for leaking propane. The Watseka Police Department, the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office, and Iroquois County EMA also assisted at the scene.

Peters said there was no evacuation necessary. There was no HAZMAT release.  A tow company remove the vehicle. The scene was cleared by 1:30 pm.
