Public libraries are getting a big helping hand from the state.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White has awarded $15.4 million in grants to 630 public libraries. The grants will help allow for buying more materials, updating equipment and adding more electronics.

Many of the public libraries in central Illinois have been awarded these grants in past years.
