Rain, Lightning Batters Kankakee County; Football Game Postponed

River Valley Senior Bowl Re-Scheduled Tonight; 94.1 FM to Broadcast

The National Weather Service (NWS) reported 4 to 6 inches of rain fell in parts of Kankakee County Saturday night.  Doppler radar indicated up seven inches hit areas of Momence, prompting Flash Flood Warnings and forcing barricades to be put in place.

Law enforcement officials reported extensive flash flooding that affected parts of Bradley, Bourbonnais, Kankakee, Momence, Aroma Park and Grant Park.  Several roads were impassable.

The lighting that preceded the heavy rain forced the delay and then postponement of the 2nd Annual River Valley Senior Bowl football game at Olivet Nazarene University.  The 7 pm contest, featuring area high school seniors, is re-set for this evening at Olivet’s Ward Field.  WGFA radio, 94.1 FM, will be there for tonight’s action.
