Rebuild Illinois Funding for River Valley Metro

Earlier this week, Gov. Pritzker announced IDOT Transit Rebuild Round 2 Awards as part of the Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan. River Valley Metro Mass Transit District had applied for $3.5 million for the purpose of replacing buses that are beyond their useful life, and we are very excited to announce that this funding has been awarded!

“We recently removed three more buses from service”, said Siron Sims, River Valley Metro’s Managing Director. “Each of those buses is 18 years old and has nearly one million miles of service. Replacing outdated vehicles will help maintain River Valley Metro’s ability to reliably serve our customers. We greatly appreciate the efforts of Gov. Pritzker and IDOT to provide funding for downstate Illinois transit districts to maintain quality vehicles and facilities for our customers”.

This new funding will be used to replace these three buses, along with several others that have recently been removed from service due to age and miles.
