The National Weather Service reports record low temperatures were recorded in several parts around Central Illinois Saturday night.

WGFA Radio's NWS observation point recorded 47 degrees early Sunday. The record low for the 27th is 46 in 1920. That same year 51 degrees was recorded on July 28th.

Record low temperatures were recorded in Lincoln, (48), breaking the old mark of 50 set in 1920; in Peoria (51), breaking the record of 53, last set in 1994; and in Springfield (48), breaking the previous mark of 53, set in 2004. In Normal, the low hit 51 degrees.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Lincoln believe the unseasonably cool temperatures will continue.

The temperatures will get warmer as the week goes along. Expect the middle 70s on Monday and then by midweek, temps are likely to be around 80 degrees, but it is still not your typical late-July temperatures.

There could be some rain in the forecast as well. Monday night and Tuesday could bring some showers and thunderstorms.
