Referendums bring ‘Yes’ votes in Iroquois County

Iroquois County voters turned a deaf ear to the anti-tax increase sentiment. Voters approved tax increases to support school issues in Milford and Crescent City, and also supported tax hikes for the Milford Park District and for police protection in Sheldon.

Milford School District #124 will begin its process to issue $17 million, $500,000 in building bonds to demolish the high school building and then build and equip the grade school building for both grade and high school purposes.

There were 733 Yes votes to 480 No. That's a 60 – 40 percent margin.

Crescent City voters approved a hike in the Education Fund for District #249. The rate goes from 4.32% to 5.12%. The vote was 239 in favor while 185 opposed.

The Sheldon Police Protection question was approved 134 to 127. The Milford park District tax increase was approved 367 to 195.
