Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis says the Kankakee River Valley Regatta delivered another exciting and memorable experience for residents and visitors alike. And he extends the City of Kankakee's sincere appreciation for all the support. The 2025 Regatta, held over the Labor Day weekend, was again the stage for heart-pounding powerboat races that attracted spectators from across the region. This year's Regatta welcomed an estimated 4,200 attendees.
The signature event, Curtis said, is the result of a strong and collaborative effort among many, including the City of Kankakee, Kankakee County, the Kankakee Valley Park District, the Kankakee Valley Boat Club, the Kankakee County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce.
While the number of unique visitors was a bit lower compared to 2024, the Mayor said the Regatta saw increased repeat attendance, signaling a deeper connection to the event among the audience -- staying longer which hopefully means more engagement with vendors, food trucks and beverage providers. Those attending, at least 25% of them, traveled more than 50 miles which reinforces the Regatta's reach as a regional attraction.
