Five Republican Party chairmen of the counties in the 106th Illinois House District are seeking a nominee to replace State Representative Josh Harms, of Watseka. Harms withdrew his candidacy for re-election in November, having announced that he plans to return to teaching after just one term in the House.
State law stipulates that he be replaced by Aug. 15 by the Republican county leaders, who will be chaired by John McGlasson, Livingston County chairman. Others are Shane Cultra, of Iroquois County; Tom Bennett, of Ford County; Mike Marron, of Vermilion County; and Matt Smith, of Woodford County.

The committee will convene on Tuesday, July 22, to review applications and on Sunday, July 27, to conduct interviews.
