Rep. Jason Bunting to seek re-election in the 106th District

State Representative Jason R. Bunting says the challenges facing the Illinois Legislature are greater than ever and he is asking voters in the 106th District to send him back to Springfield to continue to fight for the common-sense reforms Illinois desperately needs.

Bunting announced today (Wednesday) he's seeking re-election to another term as a voice for the 106th legislative district.

“As a father, I care about the future we're leaving for our kids,” Bunting said. “I’m a farmer and a small business owner and I understand the value of hard work. I know the challenges families face just to make ends meet and I understand the impact high taxes have on their bottom line. I'm running for State Representative to be a voice for rural Illinois because we deserve leaders who not only understand our values but live them. I will fight for our future and fight for the priorities of the 106th District. I humbly ask for the opportunity to continue to serve the people of this district for another term.”

Rep. Bunting is a fiscal conservative working to protect the rights of property owners and law-abiding gun owners. He opposes tax increases and is advocating for a more responsible approach to the state budget. He has consistently opposed legislative pay raises, stripping local control of wind and solar projects from county governments, and continued funding for programs and services for illegal immigrants.

Bunting is also focused on bringing his knowledge of agriculture to the Legislature and is actively working to bridge the gap between the state’s agriculture community and the densely populated counties in the Chicagoland region.

“We have a divide in this state that transcends political parties,” Bunting said. “The vast majority of legislators come from counties with little to no agriculture base. One of the challenges I have as a farmer and an agriculture advocate is getting my colleagues to understand our way of life in rural Illinois. Many of the issues that divide our state are less political and more regional than anything else.”

Rep. Bunting has served on committees for Appropriations Health and Human Services, Appropriations Public Safety & Infrastructure, Counties & Townships, Energy & Environment, Labor & Commerce, and Public Utilities.

Jason and his wife Tasha live outside Emington, IL and are parents to three children. The 106th District covers parts of Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, LaSalle, Livingston, McLean, and Will Counties. Bunting owns and maintains a family farm, trucking business, and co-owns a seed business in Livingston County.
