Gov. Bruce Rauner has signed into law a measure addressing the shortage of special education hearing officers. HB 4193 came at the request of local hearing officers to allow for extra days for the reporting deadline.

Parkhurst said, "Special Education hearing officers needed relief from the burdens of the 10-day rule and this legislation alleviate the burden, extending the deadline to 14 days."
