2013 Community Benefit Report Released

KANKAKEE, IL (July 1, 2014) – Riverside Medical Center is committed to bringing health, healing and access to quality care for those living throughout the region. In 2013, this commitment continued as Riverside not only expanded existing services, but added new programs as well, providing more than $42.8 million in community benefit.

"Riverside Medical Center has been serving this community for 50 years and I am proud of how far we have expanded our reach as well as the number and level of services we offer," said Phillip Kambic, Riverside president and CEO. "Our commitment to the region will continue to strengthen through the next 50 years and beyond as we focus on putting well within reach for everyone."

During the remainder of 2014 and into next year, Riverside has plans that include the opening of an Assisted Living & Memory Care Center in Bourbonnais, Immediate Care facilities in Gilman, an Ambulatory Care Campus in Frankfort and a Geriatric Psychiatric program on the hospital's main campus.

Of the more than $42.8 million of community benefits in 2013, more than $22.9 million of the total covered costs was for subsidized health services. This included Medicaid services (care provided to those in state aid program), and community health centers in Kankakee, Momence and Hopkins Park. New Life Center, ambulance services, health screenings, physician recruitment and health care education, and other services are also included in this figure.
