The Robert G. Miller Board Room at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee was dedicated during a a special event Tuesday. January 22, 2019 marked Riverside's 55th anniversary. Since 1964, Riversde has risen to become a medical leader. And it all started with CEO Robert G. Miller.
Miller helped break ground in 1964 as Riverside's very first president. According to current president, Phli Kambic, Miller was hired before the hospital was even built. "He actually built this facility from the ground up," Kambic said. "Over the course of his tenure, the hospital went from an original 2-story building to the 5-level structure we have today on Wall Street in Kankakee. Today we have so many comprehensive services that happened because of Mr. Miller."
Kambic said our founders saw the need for the care family and friends benefit from today. So many people were fundraisers for a community hospital.
Kambic also delivered a 55th anniversary birthday gift. There are all kinds of infrasturcture improvements being made to improve the Riverside campus.
Phil Kambic is only the third CEO in Riverside's history. He says he's so fortunate to have worked under the two previous leaders, Robert Miller and then Dennis Milirons.
The Riverside milestone, most agree, is for the whole community to celebrate. Today, the same Riverside mission continues. Nearly 3,200 employees in five counties bring Well Within Reach for thousands of patients each year.
