Roads still a problem: Freezing rain, drizzle letting up

Emergency responders joined everyday motorists dealing with the poor roads yesterday and last night. Routine police and ambulance runs became quite an adventure on the icy routes. The emergency vehicles were slowed and some had to be assisted by IDOT and Township snow plows just to make it all work. Many ambulance runs were quite lengthy.

Most all activities were postponed. Travel was impacted by snow, ice and freezing rain. The NWS reported the wave of wintry weather impacted most all of central Illinois and Indiana.

A winter weather advisory expired at 9 am today (Tuesday). Travel is still compromised and some officials were asking people to limit travel plans, unless necessary. More rain is forecast but also rising temperatures.
