Fatal crashes along I-65 in Indiana have all too common of late. Transportation officials and State Police are again advising drivers to buckle up. A third crash in the past week in northwest Indiana claimed a life Monday morning. All the crashed involved ejection of an occupant.
Just before 8 am Monday, a northbound SUV left the roadway, drove into a grassy median and rolled several times. The driver was ejected and pronounce dead at the scene by the Newton County Coroner. The victim's identity was withheld. Traffic was limited to a single lane for several hours.
On Sunday....a 20-year-old woman from Matteson (IL) was seriously injured when she was ejected from her veicle on I-65. Jeseisha Thomas was helicoptored to Christ Advocate Hospital in Illinois after her SUV Jeep left I-65 and rolled in a grassy median. Police responded at 1:30 Saturday morning.
