A 21-year-old Paxton man was sentenced to 15 years in prison in connection with a home invasion in Rossville earlier this year. 21-yr-old Frank Zamiar III pleaded guilty in August to one count of home invasion, a Class X felony. Vermilion County prosecutors agreed to dismiss two additional counts of home invasion, plus one count of felony theft.

The Paxton Record reports Zamiar will be required to serve at least 50 percent of his 15-year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Zamiar was given credit for 147 days already served at the Vermilion County Jail.

Zamiar was charged in connection with a May 3 incident in Rossville. Police records showed a man and a woman heard a banging noise DURING AN EARLY-MORNING HOUR and then discovered that someone had kicked open a door. The man and woman were restrained by the intruder and the man was battered and items of value were stolen from the home.

Vermilion County investigators, with the help of Paxton police, identified Zamiar as a suspect, and a search warrant was obtained and executed at his home, where items linked to the home invasion were found.
