Illinois State Police continue to investigate a crash that killed an Aurora man Monday in Grundy County. 44-year-old James Pheal ran into a Com Ed utility truck. Grundy County Sheriff's Police had tried to stop the victim's SUV when he took off on Route 47 then turned on to 113. He passed another vehicle before slamming into the service truck near Higgins Road.
The Grundy County Croner's office says that Pheal had been heading eastbound on Route 113 when he attempted to pass the vehicle and hit the westbound ComEd utility truck head on. Pheal's vehicle rolled several times before landing in a ditch. The driver of the ComEd truck was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
