Salvation Army celebrates National Salvation Army Week

The Salvation Army is celebrating National Salvation Army Week this week.  May 11 through May 17 marks the week declared by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954, recognizing the impact of the Salvation Army all across the country.

Kankakee is served by the Salvation Army. The location at N. Harrison and E. Court Street offers several groups assistance. Food services, housing assistance and ministerial assistance are part of the offerings.  Lt. LaToya Surratt serves as the Corp Leader in Kankakee.  She brings a wide array of experience and has daily community contacts.

The Salvation Army is an opportunity to celebrate the generosity of its supporters, the dedication of volunteers, and the resilience of those served,” according to Corps Officer, Major Randy Summitt. β€œIt is a reminder that together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of our neighbors.”
