"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
Borrowing the philosophical thought of Teddy Roosevelt, and making the most of what's at hand, created a work ethic that has earned Sandra Knight the ATHENA Award.
The honor was presented to the Kankakee YWCA Executive Director at Wednesday night's Annual Meeting of the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce.
A long list of accomplishments and continuing accolades read by Kankakee resident Kay Green about Sandra Knight highlighted so many qualities the 25th honoree of the ATHENA Award is all about.
Sandra Knight has reeled in thousands and thousands of dollars in grant money to benefit so many local programs. The list is never ending and still continues. Project after project still benefiting women.
The ATHENA Award inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightment – all qualities wrapped up in the ATHENA Leadership Model.
And the energy it must take for Sandra Knight to keep on going.
