Emergency dispatch centers were busy fielding calls Saturday night from citizens questioning what a loud boom was all about --- an explosion-sound that could be heard in at least a five-county area. The boom shook homes and rattled windows.
The effects of the startling-boom was heard in much of Ford, Iroquois and parts of Champaign counties. Folks in Benton and Warren counties in Indiana also reported hearing the loud boom.
There have been no reports of damage or injury.
