Police in Bradley and Kankakee are trying to identify a caller who made threats toward the two school districts early Monday morning. Authorities believe the threat came from outside the area. But extra police personnel made their presence known at the schools. The school superintendents of both districts notified parents about the situation.
The Kankakee County Communication Center ( Kan-Comm) received two calls just after 4:30 am Monday, according to a press release from Bradley Police. The threats were directed toward Bradley East Elementary School and Kankakee's King Middle School. Bradley Police said in its news release, the caller advised the dispatcher that they were being forced to make the threats before disconnecting. Police reported the School Resource Officers were notified, who then relayed the information to school officials.
Bradley Police further stated, it's believed the calls were made by A.I. robo-calling and were not credible. But as in all such school threats, the matter was taken seriously and increased police presence was put in place at the respective schools.
Police are investigating and trying to locate and identify the caller.
