Police in Grant Park, Kankakee County’s Emergency Response Team, sheriff deputies and Illinois State Police executed a search warrant at a location in Grant Park (Saturday) where they recovered stolen weapons and ammunition.

18-year-old Stefan Sampson of Grant Park was arrested. He’s jailed in Kankakee County on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of Stolen Firearms and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.

Sheriff Mike Downey said in a news release “the quick response and interagency collaboration brought what could have been an extremely dangerous situation to a peaceful resolution.” Downey also thanked the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office for quick assistance.
