Second Trial, Second Conviction For Murder

(Joliet, IL) -- A Will County man could be facing 55-years in prison after being convicted a second time of stabbing his former boss to death in 2007. Three years ago, an appellate court cited a judge's mistake and threw out the 2011 conviction of Martin Gomez for robbing and killing Joseph Salamie ( Sal –uh-ME) in his Peotone home. He defended himself during his second trial, and argued again that the state hadn't proved that he attacked Salamie (Sal-uh-ME) and stabbed him more than a hundred times. The jury took five hours to convict him Thursday.
