U-S Senator Dick Durbin is scheduled to meet with educators and students today at Kankakee Community College. Durbin will tour the school's technology department to evaluate how KCC is progressing in closing the gap in the skills-to-jobs mismatch when it comes to educational opportunities in solar energy.

Business people who have partnered with KCC for marketable jobs will also be on hand. KCC is among 17 community colleges awarded a U-S Department of Labor grant to train students for careers in the sustainable fields, including solar energy, health care, advanced manufacturing and clean energy.
