There are a couple of re-activated scams senior citizens should be aware of. It could be costly if you don’t take precautions.

Callers ask would-be victims to provide personal information to renew Medicare cards.

Seniors are also being targeted by scammers claiming to be personal defenders. The scammer says that your grandchild is in jail and needs $40,000 to help get him or her out.

In some cases, the scammers even will have the correct name of your grandchild, and someone will act as your grandchild over the phone.

If you’re called, always check with family members if you think you could be the target of this scam. Contact police if you receive such a call.
