• Seven people killed in Jasper County, Indiana crash

State Police report seven people are dead after a three-vehicle crash on I-65 in Jasper County, Indiana. Initial reports had two dead.

It happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday night , north of the Roselawn- DeMotte exit.

A semi-truck and a Jeep slowed for a traffic backup in a construction zone when a second semi rear-ended the Jeep sending it into the back of the first truck.

The impact ignited a fire which engulfed the Jeep. Police said crews found two bodies at the scene, but due to severe damage, the Jeep was taken to Keener Township Fire Department where five more deceased were extricated from the wreckage.

There were three adults and four children in the vehicle.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor.
