Much of the Illiana area was hit hard by high winds and reports of a tornado on Sunday. The NWS issued a severe T-storm warning that extended across southern Livingston County, into Ford and Iroquois County. Weather-observers reported a tornado touchdown in a rural section between Crescent City and Gilman. There have been no reports of damage or injury.
The same storm front moved across into Indiana. Parts of Benton, Newton and Jasper counties also reported heavy rains and some structure damage. Several communities are dealing with power outages. Utility crews from Ameren, Eastern Illini Electric Coop and ComEd are busy re-storing power. Some customers may be without into Tuesday.
Several thousand ComEd customers remain in the dark in Kankakee County, even though about 80% of the service area has been brought back online. Reports of a semi trailer blown over on I-57 near Manteno and some roof damage at businesses in Kankakee County.
The NWS reports an elevated risk of more severe weather this week, including Thursday and Friday.
