Officers from the United States Marshal’s Service, Central District, Illinois State Police, Ford County Sheriff’s Police, Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police, Iroquois County Probation, Watseka Police, Paxton Police and Gibson City Police participated in “Operation Dual County II.” The main focus of this initiative was to locate and verify every registered sex offender residing in each county for the purpose of ensuring compliance in accordance with the mandate of the Adam Walsh Child Protection Safety Act of 2006.
Nearly 120 registered sex offenders were checked during the one-day operation, and one arrest was made for an outstanding traffic warrant. Vincent Decker, 22, of Paxton, was arrested for failure to appear on a no seatbelt charge. It’s anticipated that following further investigation by federal, state and local authorities, several arrest warrants will be issued for non-compliance.
This is the second year the agencies conducted the joint operation.
