Sheriff advises, for a safe Halloween, know where sex offenders reside

Pontiac Police Chief Jim Woolford and Livingston County Sheriff Tony Childress urge residents to be cognizant of the number of sex offenders in the county and be where they lived.

95 registered sex offenders live within Livingston County. The sheriff’s office wants residents to know where the offenders reside so people can avoid those houses when trick-or-treating; residents can keep tabs on dangerous homes on Halloween. It’s suggested people use the OffenderWatch, a sex offender mapping and alert service.

Sheriff Childress said “We do the best we can in making sure sex offenders live where they tell us, so it is crucial that our citizens visit our website — livingstoncountysheriff.com — to see who the registered sex offenders are and where they are living.

The sheriff also urges parents to be familiar with neighborhoods beforehand, and know where/what to avoid.
