Sheriff’s Deputy fatally shot in Illinois

Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputy Troy Chisum suffered fatal gunshot wounds received after he responded to a battery and disturbance call in Avon, Illinois Tuesday. The 39-year-old Chisum was a four and a half year veteran of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Jeff Standard says multiple shots were fired. The Sheriff said Chisum was a member of the West Central Special Response Team. He was also a paramedic. Illinois State Police and numerous other law enforcement agencies responded to the scene south of Galesburg. The suspect was barricaded inside the home following the shooting.
